Accommodation that welcomes wheelchair users
Our accommodation at Kingfisher Barn caters for guests and groups with small children, elderly members and wheel chair users. The site has been designed so that much of the accommodation is set out on the ground floor level, no stairs and with wider doorways.to accommodate wheelchair users.
The lodges and cottages are perfect for both weekend / week breaks and group residential visits. We are ideally based to explore the surrounding areas for lots of activities.
Hazel and Stable cottages, have both been designed specifically for wheelchair users, with all accommodation on the ground floor, and wider doors for easy wheelchair access. The accommodations have wet room shower areas as well as family bathrooms, grab rails and sideway transfers to the toilet. Most bedrooms and bathrooms have ceiling tracking for the use of electric mobile hoist.
Kyte and Kestrel lodges also offer a wet room, grab rails, sideway transfers and ceiling tracking in all bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor. These two lodges are very spacious and allow a lot of freedom to move around.
We also have a private indoor heated swimming pool, which can be used by all self-catering customers. It can equipped with ceiling tracking and hoist in the changing room area and a dipper into the pool. There is also a large shower room, which can accommodate a shower chair if this is required.
Things That You'll Love
To save you bringing extra equipment with you all packed in your car we can make sure that the equipment that your group needs is set up and ready to be used on your arrival. The equipment that we can supply you with is:
Mobile electrical universal hoist
Mobile portable hoist
All of these items will be in your accommodation and ready for use if requested when booking.
Things You Need To Know
Please note that although the facilities are there to make life easier, we are a site that is visited by people from as far away as Australia and Hong Kong and so the equipment will only be placed in your accommodation if you request it on booking. There will also be a charge for some of the items of equipment.
If you are looking for a shorter stay we also have some Bed and Breakfast rooms that have been designed with wheelchair users in mind. All of our rooms are on the ground floor and some of them have 'wet rooms' which allows a shower chair to be used. If you mention to us at the time of booking that a disabled room is required we can then place you in the most suitable room.
We have a variety of useful numbers that we can give you including the local doctors who we are registered with. For any extra equipment that you need and we are not able to provide there is a local company called Huntleigh National Care that hires out all the extra equipment you should need.
